Some people with autism are severely affected, cannot speak, require constant one-on-one care, while others can communicate, and eventually acquire the necessary skills to live on their own.

OCPS Volunteer Management Website
Per OCPS policy in order to volunteer at Thornebrooke in any capacity (in the classroom, media, book fair, teach-in, field trips, Barracuda Fun Run, field day, class parties, holiday centers etc.) you MUST first be ADDitions approved. ADDitions is a district-wide program that OCPS uses for every volunteer at every school to perform background checks, manage volunteer opportunities and record volunteer hours for the safety and security of all of our children.
Offering to volunteer in the classroom or responding to a sign-up genius for a teacher is not enough. Teachers are not always aware which parents are ADDitions approved and you will not be allowed into the building to volunteer unless you are ADDitions approved. On-line registration is easy, however approval can take up to 4 WEEKS! This application must also be renewed EACH year by EVERY volunteer! Detailed instructions are attached. Please click HERE to get started.
Also, please review the OCPS volunteer policies and guidelines listed below.
Volunteers are NOT allowed to bring anyone, including younger OR older children to accompany them while volunteering at the school or on field trips.
Do not park in any reserved parking spaces or in front of the school and do not block the afternoon car-line route.
* Sign In and Out at the front desk computers. (These hours help TES qualify for the Golden and Five-Star Awards and are used in grant applications!)
* Volunteers MUST remember their user name & password to log in – the TES front desk staff does NOT have access to this information.
* Volunteers MUST also check in with the front desk staff and wear a name-tag at ALL times.
* If your application has been approved and you cannot log into the Thornebrooke computers, please log in from home and select volunteer opportunities at Thornebrooke.
Thank you for helping keep all our children safe!
